First-ever baby born at GOAL ETC in Sierra Leone
Staff at the GOAL Ebola Treatment Centre in Port Loko, Sierra Leone were delighted when, on Friday night
(June 19 2015), they delivered a young mother of a healthy baby girl.
This is the first time that a baby has been born at the ETC.
Josephine Moiba had been admitted to the ETC four days earlier as a suspected Ebola case. Shortly after being told that tests for the virus had proven negative, Josephine went into labour. And soon thereafter, GOAL doctors delivered her of a little girl. Further tests showed that the child, Michelle Martha, did not have Ebola.
Hafatsu and Michelle were discharged from the ETC on Saturday afternoon, into the welcoming arms of, Ansu, a much -relieved husband and new father.
