Ebola scare at Sydney hospital after a patient presents with symptoms of the deadly virus – and is placed in isolation
A major Sydney hospital has been forced into lockdown after a patient presented with symptoms of the deadly Ebola virus.
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA), in the inner-city suburb of Newtown, was thrown into chaos on Thursday after a patient presented with possible Ebola symptoms.
Witnesses told Daily Mail Australia that workers wearing protective suits and masks told those in the immediate area to evacuate.
A spokesperson for RPA confirmed paramedics had taken precautions with a patient at the hospital, but said the person had been cleared of having the deadly virus.
A witness said he saw what he believed were ambulance officers wearing protective suits with a patient outside the hospital about 1.20pm.
‘They’re in the ambulance out in the carpark with the full suits and everything like that,’ he said.
‘There’s a car in the carpark out the front of RPA and they’re not going anywhere.
‘The crew are with the patient at the ambulance. It’s all sectioned off and it’s bigger than Ben Hur.’ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6137515/Ebola-scare-Royal-Prince-Alfred-hospital.html
